Hello everyone,
As the topic title says, I have a question about talking scales. We have a scale that tells you your total weight, but it also breaks it down for you by telling you your weight in fat, muscle mass, water weight, etc. Does anyone know if there are any talking scales that tell you all of this information? I've seen talking scales, but as far as I know, they only tell you your total weight, without the extra info. If anyone knows where I might be able to find one, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I only have the talking scales that tell the total weight of whatever is on them.

No, I've neverh heard of a talking scale that breaks it down like that. I'll do some investigating, see if I can come up with any info for you, but I doubt that there is such a thing.

Is it really possible for a scale to break it down like that? I've never heard of that before.

Yes, it's possible. They do exist. Like I said, we have one, but it doesn't speak, so if I want to know anything, I have to have someone read it to me, and I'd really rather be able to do it myself. I know that I can get one of the regular ones, but I thought this kind was neat, so I wanted to see if they made the talking scales like this yet.

Yes, those scales exist, but I didn't realize they were available for personal use. The only places I've seen scales that break things down like that is in doctor's offices.

I'm not sure when they started selling them for personal use, but they are available now. I think my mom bought hers at Target.

Yep. My sister had a scale like that. The thing is, it only read the weight out for you. If you wanted to find out your body fat, a sighted person had to enter in the info of your weight/height and read it out to you. It was kind of annoying cause the talking feature only worked half-way. lol If you find one, I'd like to get one as well. Good luck.

A little side question, which brand of talking scales do y'all find the best. I like what I've read about the Taylor talking scale, but cannot find it to purchase. What's your opinion? Thanks.

Hmmm. I like the one I have, but forget which brand it is. I'll find out, and post it here.

is a braille scale more accurate than a talking one? I had a talking scale long ago and it was awful very inaccurate. Kept saying low battery or something like that.

I have just bought a talking scale from the rnib in England. It has 4 memorries for 4 people to use. You just press the memorry button you want. For example I am number one. It will tell you your weight then the next time you get weied it will tell you how much you have lost or gained. I have never heard of scales that will tell you everything like your body fat and so on. Michelle in Scotland

I've been doing some searching, and I've found a scale that tells you a little bit more than your weight, but it doesn't go into great detail like the non-talking one that I have.

Braille scales? I didnt' know they made those.

Interesting to know what is out there; since I have not looked so long into getting a scale, that's why I thought I would ask around.

I've only heard of talking scales that read out your total weight only. I'm one of those geeky types who likes talking things, so if there were such a scale I'd probably find out sooner or later, but I haven't heard of such a thing. I did have an early talking scale years ago that would remember your last weight and tell you what you had gained or lost, but that one broke and is no longer made far as I know. The latest talking scale I've heard of makes smart-aleck remarks when it tells you your weight.

The talking scales that I have aren't made anymore. It does have a 5 person memory, a male voice, takes 2 9-volt batteries, and has little rubber circles all over the top of it, where you stand, for better traction, but I have no clue what the brand name of it is. It will tell you your weight in pounds or kelos, and will either say, "good bye," or, "Have a nice day," after it tells you your waight.

I have a talking scale with a female voice with what sounds like a Chinese accent. In fact, it reminds me of the Chinese female mobility instructor who used to work at the local rehab center. I always step on it, get my weight, step off and wait a few seconds and then do it two more times. I then take the average of the three weights, because depending on where you place your feet, it gives you a different weight each time.

Godzilla, I'd love one of those with smart alec remarks. I've always thought it would be funny to invent one like that. Guess I'm too late.

Well, I got a scale for Christmas. I saw it on BlindMiceMart's website, and so my mom got it for me. It speaks your weight and, if certain data is entered into the scale, it will also tell you your body fat percentage. I like it. It's a good scale. It also has a lifetime warranty, which is great.

I haven't heard of braille scales before, but glad you managed to get a better talking scale. Those talking scales sound cool when they tell you other bits of information as well as just the total weight.
